There’s something refreshing about talking with someone who has genuinely lived through the kind of changes they now help others navigate. Dr. Karen M. Kissinger brings that perspective to her work as a life and wellness coach, combining decades of experience as an educator with a deeply personal understanding of resilience, health, relationships, and purposeful living. She is warm, encouraging, practical, and the kind of person who believes meaningful change starts with one honest step forward.
A Career Built Around Helping People Grow
Dr. Karen M. Kissinger is a Certified Life Coach (CLC) and an ACC-credentialed coach through the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She holds a bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City and a master’s degree from Park University in Parkville, Missouri, where she was recognized as an Outstanding Graduate Student.
Before becoming a professional life and wellness coach, Karen spent more than 25 years as an award-winning educator, working as a high school teacher and coach. Her career in education shaped much of the way she approaches coaching today: listen carefully, understand the individual, identify strengths, set meaningful goals, and keep moving forward.
Her work has also been recognized through honors including the 1999 Northland Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Education award, the Michael Carlson Award for Excellence, and a National Forensics League Diamond Award for coaching.
But her professional credentials only tell part of the story.
The Experience That Changed Her Direction
Karen’s transition into life and wellness coaching grew from a major personal turning point.
Following a debilitating accident, she found herself on a journey to regain her own health and sense of balance. Rather than treating recovery as simply a physical challenge, she began looking at the bigger picture—exercise, nutrition, relationships, life balance, personal values, and the way she wanted to live.
That process changed her life.
Through intentional changes, Karen rebuilt her physical wellbeing, rediscovered her core values, revitalized her marriage, reconnected with friends and family, and regained a stronger sense of vitality and passion.
That experience eventually led her toward a new vocation: helping others discover what is possible when they begin making intentional choices about their own lives.
Her Approach to Wellness and Coaching
Karen’s approach is holistic but practical. She doesn’t believe wellbeing is about chasing perfection or following a one-size-fits-all formula.
Instead, she encourages people to understand what matters most to them and build sustainable habits around those values.
Her credentials include CLC, CHC, CWC, and CWP certifications through the National Wellness Institute, professional life and wellness coaching through ILTC, Wellness Mapping 360 certification, and certification as a Tai Chi and Qigong facilitator through IIQTC.org. She is also a member of the CCN and holds a Green Spa Certification through Eminence Organics.
These experiences give her a broad perspective on the relationship between physical health, emotional wellbeing, personal development, and a meaningful life.
